I am excited to introduce a new Senior Associate role with one of the top offshore firms here in Hong Kong. Offshore law firms focus on the element of a transaction which takes place in an offshore location such as the BVI or Cayman Islands. As a result, you will need to become familiar with the litigation and regulation in these jurisdictions in order to be able to work with your clients (predominantly other law firms) on offshore specific work. The benefit to becoming an offshore specialist are many: it tends to be a more social environment, especially as most of your BD will be to your peers in other law firms; the work is interesting and specific, allowing you to become an expert in your area; becoming efficient at the part of the deal you work on can also lead to better hours.

We see many successful legal careers develop in the offshore space, with lawyers spending time in Cayman to become qualified there being a nice perk of the role.

This is a brilliant opportunity for lawyers looking to take a step up to Senior Associate from an international onshore firm or for someone currently offshore who is looking for an opportunity to work with first class partners in Hong Kong. You will need a common law background OR be offshore qualified. Strong technical skills and the appetite to go out and win business are a must.

Chinese language skills are not required so this role is perfect for litigation lawyers looking to move internationally to Hong Kong.
